Trailer: ‘Man of Steel’ - June 14, 2013

Directed by Zack Snyder, written by David S. Goyer, starring Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Michael Shannon, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, Laurence Fishburne, Antje Traue, Ayelet Zurer, Christopher Meloni, and Russell Crowe.

Who would have thought that all Superman needed has some grit and filmic noise to become immediately grounded in reality. Sure, it recalls Nolan’s ‘Dark Knight’ trilogy but is there anything wrong with that? This teaser doesn’t give much but the naturalistic cinematography and the down-to-earth feel immediately invokes an Americana and juxtaposes well with the shot of him flying at the end. I wouldn’t say Snyder’s filmography is tied to reality, so hopefully this keeps its feet on the ground because it’s working here.
